This study was performed to evaluate single-dose toxicity of urinary trypsin inhibitor(UTI) in Sprague-Dawley rats and New-Zealand white rabbits via intravenous routes. UTI was administered in rats at does levels 3,000,000, 600,000, 120,000,
24,000,
4,800 unit/kg and 0 unit/kg. And also UTI was administered in rabbits at does levels of 1,500,000, 150,000, 15,000 unit/kg and 0 unit/kg. The rats and rabbits of both sexes were observed daily for 14 days after single intravenous administration.
UTI
administrated rats and rabbits did not induce any mortallities and abnormal sings in clinical findings, body weights, gross findings and histopathological finding. Based on these results, it is impossible to estimate LD50 values in rats and
rabbits.
Therefore, it was concluded that UTI have no effect on acute toxicity and side effect in rats and rabbits.
